Note 039
William of Tyre (l. xvi. c. 4, 5, 7) describes
the loss of Edessa, and the death of Zenghi. The corruption
of his name into Sanguin, afforded the Latins a comfortable
allusion to his sanguinary character and end,
fit sanguine sanguinolentus.
