It is evident from the Notitia that the seven
provinces were the Viennensis, the maritime Alps, the first
and second Narbonnese, Novempopulania, and the first and
second Aquitain. In the room of the first Aquitain, the Abbe
Dubos, on the authority of Hincmar, desires to introduce the
first Lugdunensis or Lyonnese.
