Following
you will read several statements that may not be common knowledge to some.
Then the question is asked: "How,
then, have we arrived at the point that everything we have done
for 228 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?" After
carefully reading each statement, please consider an answer to this
question and a proposal for us to consider implementing.
DID
YOU KNOW?
As
you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court you
can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each
one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view -
it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!
DID
YOU KNOW? As
you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten
Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.
DID
YOU KNOW?
As you sit inside the
courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit,
a display of the Ten Commandments!
DID
YOU KNOW? There
are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in
Washington, D.C.
DID
YOU KNOW?
James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our
Constitution" made the following statement "We have staked the whole
of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for
self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to
control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of
God."
DID YOU KNOW? Patrick
Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said, "It cannot be
emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by
religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus
Christ".
DID YOU KNOW? Every
session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose
salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777. Currently
prohibited to use Jesus name - Rock's red
DID YOU KNOW? Fifty-two
of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox
churches in the colonies.
DID YOU KNOW? Thomas
Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of
interpreting the law would begin making law....an oligarchy....the rule of few
over many. Thereby abandoning God's Law.
DID YOU KNOW? The
very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should select
and prefer Christians as their rulers."
How, then,
have we arrived at the point that everything we have done for 228
years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?
An answer:
What may surprise many of my readers is
that there has been a paradigm shift in America (No surprise in that statement.) In
the early days of this nation, God was obviously honored as the Sovereign.
What changed and how? The views of believers shifted from a view of victory to
one of defeat. This occurred because of the confidence in God's
absolute sovereignty was replaced with the notion of man's will. Slowly at
first the theocentric (God centered)perspective was exchanged for an
anthropocentric (man centered) faith.
In the Great Awaken revival that predates
the birth of America by 33 years, preachers preached a sovereign grace message.
Missions were established by men that adhered to the doctrines of grace and the
expanse of Christ's victory. Men like George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards were
greatly used to awaken the colonies out of their slumber. William Carey, the
father of modern missions, and David Brainard, a missionary to Native
Americans, took this gospel of grace and victory to darkened parts unknown
-- both here and abroad.
What happened? Arminianism and
antinomianism replaced the gospel of grace -- the doctrines of grace -- and
began undermining the basic principles upon which our nation was built. In
Arminianism man's will is set up above God's will. Proud sinners enjoy
having a right to veto God's will, to make their choice, to assert their
will. Coupled with that antinomianism de-emphasized the Law of God.
Hence, man's will and laws were set above the will of God and HIS Holy Law. Then
in the 19th century the theology of defeat found fertile ground as it was served
up in a new spin now known as Dispensationalism. The Dispensationalists
arbitrarily cut up the Scriptures and thus divided the people of God.
What's more in Dispensationalism the hype of the "Rapture" at any
moment gutted the effectiveness of the church. Believers soon became
debilitated by these erroneous views: Why be involved since Jesus will be
back before the day is over so the thinking was. Why should one bother about the
ungodly laws, God's law is obsolete so man came to believe. And of course, man
has a right to choose what and when he will believe and obey. Sadly,
America drank deeply from these poisoned wells; oh, how sweet these new or
renewed views tasted to self willed man. Unhappily preachers are often lazy or
over worked and grossly fail to study the Bible for themselves (not all of
them). Therefore, it is easier for them to preach systems of men than to
diligently mine for themselves the truth of Scripture.
A proposal
Return to the God of our forbears. Denounce
Arminianism, antinomianism and Dispensationalism. But how since these
popular views are so entrenched in most churches today? Graciously, respectfully
and humbly your findings must be shared. Probably you will be at
first be criticized and denunciated by them. Be of good cheer. The
truth shall set you free.
Ask yourself this question: Are the current
trends in Christendom advancing the gospel as it once did in early America? What
changed? Let us return unto the God who blessed America.
May God be glorified in each of our lives!
Sincerely,
Pastor Brown, an unworthy servant of a
very worthy Sovereign LORD.
"I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do
something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the
something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I
should do, by the grace of God, I will do." - Edward Everett
Hale
