On Saturday, 30 ^th June, 2001, just before the commencement of the rugby union match between Great Britain, and Australia, it was announced that there would be a moments silence. This test between the Lions and the Wallabies was broadcast live on the channel 7 television channel, so the viewing audience and the crowd of spectators witnessed this devaluation of a minute's silence to a moment's silence.
